In 2016, a plan was formed by Alex Houston, vice-chair of Ballymoney RFC- to bring the community together for a day of music and celebration. The vision was that by using the grounds and facilities, plus professional organisations, we could have a really great event, right on our own doorstep.
Last year was a tremendous success, with over 1000 people passing through the gates, and bands ranging from local favourites to UK-wide tribute acts keeping the crowd on their toes for a full day.
This year, we plan to go bigger – adding a Friday night event to bring more people and more music to the town – as well as finding more bands from around the country to sample our hospitality!
Ballymoney Rugby Football Club is an ambitious Junior Club situated along the North Coast of Ireland close to the world famous Giants Causeway and Old Bushmills Distillery. Membership has grown, facilities have improved as has the standard of play.
We have produced a Mini rugby team that represented the Club at Landsdowne Road in a warm-up exhibition match before an International, youth players who have represented Ulster and one who was selected to play for Ireland, only to be thwarted through an unfortunate injury. Senior players have played for and captained the Junior Ulster side, two have gone on to play for the Senior Ulster side and one who played in the World Cup finals in Ireland.
